建筑保温绝热材料作为一种重要的节能材料，目前已广泛该应用于建筑工业中。

建筑保温绝热材料通常可按材质分为有机绝热材料、无机绝热材料和金属绝热材料。也可按形态分为多孔状绝热材料、纤维状绝热材料、粉末状绝热和层状绝热材料。

保温绝热材料的效能的优劣主要由材料热传导性能的高低（其指标为导热系数）决定。材料的热传导愈难（即导热系数愈小），其保温隔热性能愈好。
