Limits Hydraulic pressure strength. The extinguisher body shall show no cracks or leaks when tested at a hydraulic pressure of twice the working pressure or 2.5 MPa, whichever is greater, for a period of one minute. The hose shall not leak when tested at a hydraulic pressure equal to body test pressure or 2068 kPa, whichever is greater, for a period of 5 minutes. Leakage The gross weight of a stored pressure type extinguisher after storage for a period of 21 days shall be not less than that before storage. Ageing shall show no damage likely to affect its performance Bursting strength. The extinguisher body shall not burst at a hydraulic pressure equal to 3.375 times the working pressure or 5 MPa whichever is greater. Shaking and vibration. shall not be subject to any damage which affects its performance after the shaking and vibration tests Discharging and extinguishing.
ParametersLimits Marking 5.1 The following information shall be legibly and indelibly marked on the bodyof every extinguisher in Arabic and English 5.1.1 Manufacturer’s name and/or trademark. 5.1.2 Year of manufacture. 5.1.3 Type of extinguisher and field of use. 5.1.4 Hydraulic testing pressure. 5.1.5 Nominal (charge) capacity of extinguisher. 5.1.6 Operation method. 5.1.7 Maximum temperature for storage. 5.2 The following shall be observed in the labelling: 5.2.1 The material of marking shall be resistant to heat, moisture, light and abrasion. 5.2.2 The information shall not be obliterated or spoiled after carrying out the tests mentioned in this standard. 5.2.3 The colour of marking shall be distinctive. 5.2.4 The information shall cover the largest practicable area of the body but shall not overlap half the circumference of the body. 5.2.5 The manufacturer’s name or trademark shall not predominate other information. 5.3 The following information shall be marked on the neck of the body or on the operating head of the extinguisher: 5.3.1 The empty weight of the extinguisher (excluding the hose and its accessories). 5.3.2 The filled weight of the extinguisher (excluding the hose and its accessories). 5.4 Instructions booklet
Each extinguisher shall be accompanied with a pamphlet or booklet including the following information in Arabic5.4.1 The information mentioned in 5.1 and 5.3. 5.4.2 Working pressure and maximum storage temperature. 5.4.3 A simple description of the method of operating the extinguisher and recharging it after use. 5.4.4 An explanatory drawing showing the parts of the extinguisher. 5.4.5 Any additional information indicating the types of fires to which the extinguisher can be applied, and the requirements for storage, maintenance, and regular check of the weight of the cartridge, and inspection of the pressure indicator (for the stored pressure type).
